wont start. need help ASAP

went out to get in the truck, started fine using key (i have remote start on my truck). drove down to the corner store, killed the engine. when i was about to leave i tried starting my truck, and i acted like it wanted to start for about half a second then nothing. Now all i get is a slight noise coming from under the hood, clicking type sound. Im guessing the starter went out? Everything works fine, battery wise, so its not that.

My truck is currently at the corner store and i cant tow it home b/c of the fx2 front bumper (nowhere to tie on to)

So i have to call a tow truck to tow the damn thing to the dealership when they open. I have 100,000 warranty would this be covered? I do have an aftermarket remote start would they say that the problem would not be covered because of this?

It's really frustrating getting stranded at 3am in the morning, could the starter be my problem?

i wouldnt rule out the battery. it might have enough to work accessories but not to turn the starter. get someone to try jumping you. and if its not the battery let us know what it turns out to be.

Try to lightly tap on the starter with a hammer.

x2 I had to do this on my old Bronco every other time I turned it off for about 2 months (Yes I'm that lazy lol)
Also make sure to check all of your wires and connections going from your batt to your starter and then to ground as well. It is possible that you still have a problem with the battery. If you have a cell that is shorted bad enough it could still cause it not to start even if you try to jump it. Since it is only an 07 I would put money on the batt. You can always take it out and bring it to a parts store and have them test it. Good luck!!!

I almost was going to say push start the truck... but I forgot, you can't do it with an automatic. I had this happen on my '99, but my starter wires literally rusted out. So I turned the truck on, got out and gave it a good push and put the tranny in 1st and popped the clutch, and off I was.

But it sounds like you got a starter or battery issue.

any progress?

if you are still at a loss, try jumping it with the negative cable on the battery in your truck disconnected. leave the + cable on your trucks battery and hook up the + jumper to that. dixconnect the - cable from your battery and hook the - jumper to the cable. could be your battery is so bad or is shorted internally that its not enough amps to crank the starter.

thats typical dealership service.

when the thrill of getting a new truck wears off the one thing that makes any sense out of spending all that money is having the warranty. all the dealers around here suck so bad that i dread going to them. in fact my rear power slider window failed while i was under warranty and i couldnt bring myself to take the truck in. its always such an agravating experience. and they wonder why they arent selling vehicles.

a couple years ago i had a cel and antilock problem with my truck. i called the dealer and asked if my wife brought it over could they give her a ride home, only a half mile. she got there at 8 and waited an hour for a ride. she would have walked but it was a busy highway. i called around 2 and they said they were troubleshooting it. i go by there at 4 and the truck is in the parking lot. i called her and asked her what spot she parked it in. coincidentally it was in the same spot. i then went and felt the catalytic converter to find is stone cold as was the trans and oil pan. i went into the service counter and they try to run some bs on me. all was doing was yelling give me the f'in keys. they finally gave them up.

My buddy had kinda the same thing happen to his ranger. It sounded like the starter with the clicking sound. So we looked at the easiest thing first. We took out a relay from the fuse box under the hood and tested it( relays make a clicking noise when they are trying to activate). The relay was bad. Went and got a new realy, cheap and easy fix.
