Heck I got 8% grades I deal with going to work everyday and never have a problem during the snow/ice season.

x2, drive smart and put weight in the bed. Also, remeber you can downshift for traction in 1 or 2 as long as your going slow enough. People have used 2wd for ever, see how it goes. Also invest in some good high traction tires as previously mentioned by the other poster.

I did an Ottawa winter in a FWD Civic and RWD Chevrolet Express...

Got stuck once or twice in the Civic but the Express stayed on the road and didn't get stuck once all season.
