Question Tire Pressure Sensor

Is there a simple way to tell if my 2007 F-150 FX4 has those stinking sensors? My manual seems to be no help and I've been told not all of the 2007's have them.

I am sure it does. Mine does. when you turn the key to on...somewhere do you see a cross section of a tire in orange light up momentarily on the cluster?

The only 07's that did not get the TPMS sensors as standard equipment are the heavy duty payload package. All other 07's have it, especially an upscale model like an FX4. The system was federally mandated to be on all light duty non commercial vehicles sold by the 2007 model year, so you will find it on all cars, suvs, vans, and trucks.

BTW I also have an 07 FX4 and mine has it.

As fordmaster said, look for the tire light when you start the truck. On the FX4 cluster its in the tach at the bottom just off center to the left.

Well that really s#%&*. So when you put new aftermarket tires and wheels on do you just live with the idiot light without breaking the bank for new bands & sensors? Or buy 17" aftermarkets and reuse the old ones on the new or what?

Right, you can re-use the sensors on your aftermarket wheels. But the bands are one time use. Most reputable tire places will have bands to transfer them to your new wheels.

Search is your best friend here.

You can reuse your sensors in the new wheels, just have a new band put on them and clip your sensors into them before the tire is mounted. Also if you reuse your old sensors, then you don't need to have them reprogrammed, whereas new sensors will need it because the system can only store the sensor id's for one set of sensors.

It's really not a PIA -- it probably takes the tire shop about 5 minutes extra per tire to re-mount the sensors and you're good to go. I think the new bands ran me $6.00 a piece when I had new rims put on my Mustang....
