EBC vs. Hawk Brake Pads

has anyone used both? What is best for a 4X4? Do you go with the green or blue or red or yellow on the ebc? With the hawk's do you go with hps, lts or performance ceramic? If there are any other brake pad suggestions besides these let me know as well. I have heard the the thermoquiets are good as well.

Thanks in advance

Just go with the OEM ford pads...you will be glad you did....

Go over to tire rack and look at the reviews...half are satisfied with after market half are not, lots of dust and groaning, squaelling with aftermarket...even when advetised to be low noise/ low dust....seems to be inconsistency in aftermarket manufacture as some are satisfied some are not.......I always seem to be one of those that get screwed so I stick with the OEM Ford pads....besides the brakes on these 04+ trucks are stop better than anything out there stock.........

I have had EBc on cars and they were really good. I have Performance Friction with Baer EradiSpeed rotors all around and its a really good set up from the rain in Washington to the EL Centro, CA heat the breaks always work very well, WAY better than stock.

That's going to be a negative on that one. OEM's are the absolute worst with dusting. A good low cost set of pads would be Thermo-Quiets made by Wagner. You can get a set from advanced auto parts for pretty cheap.

I have EBC green front and back with EBC rotors and love them. No dust to speak of. I haven't washed my truck in several weeks and with the OE pads my wheels would be brown by now. With the EBC pads, you can't even tell I've driven it. I've got 1000+ miles on them and they are BY FAR better than OE. I have heard they will go through OE rotors though so you may want to consider new rotors with any non-OE pad. Do some research on that and see what others have had that work well with OE rotors if you plan to just turn yours.

I had 41k on my OE parts and had a major pulsation, so instead of cutting OE rotors and 6 months later having it return because of even LESS material to dissipate heat, I opted for EBC dimpled and slotted black rotors with greens. Best brakes I've had on a vehicle with exception of my '03 Porsche. Pulsating on the OE F150 rotors is a common issue if you read a lot about brakes on here.

I have the Hawk LTS pads and I love them. I've had stock and Carquest Blues and I like these the best. Yes, they tend to dust but so did my other two pads. The bite on these is awesome. I'm sure they won't last as long as my other pads but I don't care because of the performance they offer. The only downside is they tend to squeak when they are real dirty.
