Dash Louver Vents for A/C & Heat

Anyone have problems with the dash vents breaking? I had 2 of them break within a month of having the truck...

One of these days when I've got a few bucks laying around I'll get a couple off ebay, that seems to be the only place I can find them.

Also, anyone else buy anything from "Found a Deal LLC" on ebay? Reliable or not? I'm paranoid about buying stuff online.

you pounding on those things?

I pulled them in/out of my 2006 quite a few times.

btw, that seller has excellent feedback. I think you'd be just as satisfied as if you went to a local store and paid cash.

just don't pay more than $5.00 for the shipping. those things are extremely light, and pretty small...even if you buy 2 of them

also, the Mustang from 2005-2009 uses the same style of vents. So you can use those as well.

I looked at like 10 F150's when I bought mine. Probably 8 off them had at least 1 broken louver....including mine.

It's just 2 small plastic tabs that hold those louvers in there (1 on each side) and they are only maybe 3/32" dia and 1/8" long.

I'm thinking 1 might have already been broke when I got it, I don't remember playing with them when I test drove it, it just fell out one day when I went to open it.

I know my dog broke the other one when he decided to put his paw through
the louver. All he did was set his paws on the dash, 1 on the vent, and those louvers came flying out like they were potato chips. All 4 tabs busted off.

Well I finally bought these things from e-bay, bill ended up being $34 for 2 of them.

They were exactly what they said they were, new take-offs, they were in excellent shape, however they don't open and close as easily as my original ones do. Maybe that has to do with the fact they aren't broken in yet. Finally my truck is back to normal after 2 years of glued shut vents.

I bought a new 08 F-150. I am a senior and normally drive alone. The truck has only 14000 miles on it now. The first vent broke after a month and when I asked for warranty replacement, the dealer told me it was abuse and not covered. Since the first one breaking, I have been very careful with them and a total of 4 more have been replaced by me. I have 2 more broken now. There may have been a redesign to make them stronger but all I have bought are the same weak design. No kids or dogs have broken them. They are breaking with very gentle use. They break at the same spot every time--happy with the truck but the vents are junk. Ford should replace any of these that break but they don't seem to want to admit a poor-weak design. The truck is a Roush edition but an 07 XLT had one broken when I traded.

Wow my 05 still has all the original ones in there, and people are not gently with them. My only complaint is the chrome peeling up on one of them

Bought my truck new in '08 as well, and had the black plastic vents in there for at least 45,000 miles with no problems. Bought a set of 4 chrome HD ones off eBay for $50 shipped, and no problems out of them, either...

Yup, 08 w/70K miles and never had any vent brake or even appear to be flimsy.

I've bought quite a few things from that seller. They are very quick to ship! At this point I search their store before looking elsewhere (on eBay) because they are so good to work with. Good Luck!
