2008 F150 appreciated the first year

I was looking as some 2008 F150s on eBay and every one I looked at is priced with a Buy It Now that is higher than what you could buy an 08 for back on 2008.

There is one truck like mine with a Buy It Now which is $2500 more than I paid for mine last summer.

Is this the first time a vehicle appreciated in value a year after driving it off the lot?

I'd imagine it's because gas is somewhat cheap compared to last year so trucks are able to sell a lot better now.

used vehicle values are through the roof right now.

people are buying used vehicle to "save" a few bucks...rather than buying a brand new
in some cases, they do save money...but in other cases, you can do better buying a new one
I got $22,000 for my 2006 last month...and you can almost buy a brand new 2009 for that price

Yes, we won't get in trade what we paid, and we may not be able to get as much as the dealer will sell it for, but when you compare the price you would pay today to buy the same thing, it's more.

With the shortage of used 08s on dealer lots I think I could advertise mine for the price I paid, and get it.

Just looked mine up and it's listed for $6k more than I payed last July retail, $3k more private party and $1500 under for trade in. Too bad I have $15k into her already. I think I'd be hard pressed to be able to sell my truck for $42k just to get my money back. Any takers? HAHAHA I can't think of any other truck I would rather have right now though to be honest.
