How is the quality of the paint, interior, bed?

$10k might be pushing it for a truck that old, 2wd, and somewhat high mileage.

interior/paint isn't horrible but it isn't great (we all know how the seats stain so bad)
bed is fine, i've had a spray in bedliner since about 2 months after i bought it.

In 'good' condition.. 11,210

In 'fair' condition.. 10,335

By their definition, it's in 'good' condition..no major defects even tire wear, runs fine

If you get $10k for it, kiss the guy who bought it on the lips and then run like a madman to deposit the money in the bank.....

Because the market is flooded with used F150s. You're competing with every other truck out there in trying to sell yours. Add that they don't/didn't particularly hold their value very well, and with the sketchy condition of the economy making hard to sell most anything other than food and booze, if you can get $10K, take it and run to the bank.

You're trying to sell a very unremarkable truck with relatively high miles and in average condition in a market where it's extremely difficult to sell any vehicle without absolutely giving it away. I would probably pay $10k for a truck like yours if it had 25,000 miles on it, but with 75,000 miles -- no way.

If I did a little hunting, I could probably purchase a left-over '08 set-up exactly like your truck for around $15,000 brand new. I drive all over Texas on a weekly basis and am amazed at how many '08's are still sitting front-and-center on dealer lots around the state.

Not knocking your truck -- just explaining the realities of trying to sell it in this market.

I think 10K is a reasonable asking price for a southern truck in decent condition, but be prepared to negotiate. Edmunds.com rates the F-150 as its "Best Buy". Conventional wisdom says a new vehicle loses up to half its value in the first three years. After that, the depreciation rate declines significantly. Folks are hanging on to their trucks longer due to the state of the economy, so there are fewer to choose from. I recently bought my 2000 F-150 2WD XLT SCAB with 96K for $6600. The asking price was $7200 and we met half way. It's not perfect, but it's clean and drives like new. The seller was the original owner and kept all his service documentation. Knowing the vehicle's history was a big plus for me. I looked at several newer trucks with less miles but in worse condition.

Yeah, and i didn't say i wasn't willing to negotiate..10k is just a starting price really. I've got all the service docs too, oil changes religiously, just did the brakes, tune up within the last 3k miles.

does KBB not mean anything value wise anymore?

Here's my best advice.....

put it on Craigs list, and ask even MORE than you think it's worth, just to get a feel for where your local truck market is at.

Less than a year ago, I was fixing to sell my "worn out" old Tacoma. It had 216K miles on it. Granted it was in perfect shape with the body, interior, tires were 80%, it had a good fiberglass bedcover..... but with that many miles, and the fact that it 'barely' passed smog, I was going to ask $1900. So, right before I posted it on Craigs list, I decided to check KellyBlueBook.com, and damn ! I couldn't believe they said my old beater was worth $2960 ! What ? I wouldn't have gave you $2960 for it !
But just for the heck of it, I bumped my price from $1900, up to $2600, went back to Craigs list, and clicked the post button.

And HOLY $#!+ ! I swear within minutes.... I mean, less than 5, my phone rings... and again... and again ! And it didn't stop ringing for the 1 1/2 hours I had it posted. But by then, I had a guy racing from, Sacramento, with cash in hand ! Littarally 1 hour (and that's only because the guy lived 45 minutes away) I had $2600 cash in my hand, and the guy was driving away with my old truck, and the pink slip ! Of course the phone was still ringing off the hook, so I walked straight inside and deleted my post from Craigs list. Must have gottem litterally 25 calls in 90 minutes !

Then I was kind of kicking myself in the butt, for not asking $3200.... But what the hey, I was only going to ask $1900 to begin with, and talk about getting the PITA of selling a vehicle, out of the way FAST !

Anyway, these guys are saying you'd be lucky to get $10K..... Put it on Craigs list for $12K just to see what happens. What have you got to lose ? It's free to post there....

Peace,
Fish

i paid 11,000 for my 04 super cab 4.6. the truck was in great condition when i bought it had a few scratches in the pain in the bed but nothing bad. it had 20s and a k&n intake on it already. it had 63k i think it was. i think 10,000 is a fair price for yours. got any pics of it?
