What would it take to convert my 2wd to 4wd

With the way things are going i will not be able to trade my 2wd in for a 4wd so my new project is getting all the parts of the next year to make the swap. All the underneath stuff will be easy for me the only thing I am going to have to learn is all the electrical stuff.

I have a 2005 screw

I am going to be pulling parts from an 05 f150 like mine as soon as I can find a wrecked one. I figure it will cost me around 2k over the next 1 1/2 year maybe less maybe more. All labor I can do I am also going through 10 pages of this topic

These are what I can come up with to make the swap
-transfer case
-tranny?
-front drive shaft
-rear drive shaft?
-front diff
-front brakes
-front shocks
-pcm?
-interior ***** and such
-lots of electrical ****

read a lot so i see it can be done but I have seen one or two post saying the frame is different? any truth to this?

I honestly can not trade in or sell in my situation

i don't mean to sound like an ***, but if you gotta ask you shouldn't be doing it. are the frames even the same? i bet you would spend way more than 2grand on the whole swap also.

It's simple. Trade the 4x2 in on a 4X4.

different frames sounded like bs to me

whats would I be looking at ball park It would either be a bike or the 4x4 swap. it does sucks not having 4x4 in my truck. I am also looking for a 4" lift to straighten out my front end geometry

If your in that situation perhaps it's a better idea to put the money towards the car loan and wait, trade it in for a factory 4x4 later.

I actually contacted a local truck shop for this, and they said between labor, and parts and everything to go into it, it would run about 8-10k.. Basically, it's WAY cheaper to trade in the truck, or sell it and buy one exactly the same but 4wd.

Yesir! ah so keeping the truck eh? You might not want a GMC, because they are going to be gone, it'll just be Chevy and Caddy

It would take you selling your two wheel drive truck and buying a 4x4. Otherwise, you'd have a rigged together fustercluck of epic proportions that'd never work right.

a rear selectable locker would definitely help, along with good mud tires, and you'll go just as far as a 4x4 on street tires

This too. A locking rear diff, and the right tires, and within reason there ain't many places you can't go in your two wheel drive that a four wheel drive could.
