Need some help, 4.6l starting problem.
Need some help, 4.6l starting problem.
Truck:
2005 F-150 STX, 4.6l, 50k miles
Issue:
So today was the first day of warm weather. I hopped in my truck after work and everything was fine. Drove about 30 miles (split highway/city), stopped at the parts store from a few things, jumped back in the truck and it didn't start on the first attempt. Starter was spinning, engine turning, but wouldn't catch.
Let it sit for a few seconds and tried again. This time held the ignition for a few seconds longer and it eventually caught (wasn't a roaring start, just basically into the lowest idle possible without stalling.) Also noticed a small amount of white smoke from the exhaust.
I did some searching on here and found people with the same issue, but they all have the 5.4l. A lot of those threads pointed to the injectors which are now covered under an extended warranty, but remember... mine is a 4.6l.
Anyone have any ideas on what I should be looking at? I was thinking either injectors or the fuel pump.
