2009 FX4 rear diff in a 2004-2008?

Would the 2009 rear diff with the eletric locker swap into a 2004-2008? Was just watching a video of the 2009 Fx4 with the eletric locking diff, and wondered if you this would be a direct replacement into our trucks?

you can just buy an electric locker for probably alot cheaper than a whole new rear end

I dunno. I don't imagine the housings would be different, maybe there's a cut-out or something for the wire to pass through to the differential, but I can't think of any immediate reasons why it wouldn't work.

better question

will the 09+ 9.75 bolt directly into our trucks?

They didn't move the leafs or anything, just made 'em longer. And the ABS stuff should be the same. I'm giving it a year or 2, then I'm going junkyard hunting to find a 09 FX4 axle and see what happens

I wish it was that easy, no one makes an electric locker for the 9.75" axle but Ford (GKN Driveline).

I'm trying to source one now, we'll see how it goes.

x2. Im about to pull the trigger on my 4.88s and a detroit tru-trac. The only locker I could find for our 9.75 is a detroit locker.
