I had that problem with my 01 odometer. It was fixed with a new cluster.

The oil pressure gauge in my '06 Lariat recently failed under warranty. The dealer replaced the entire instrument cluster. The dealer got the replacement cluster from a third party vendor. I had put 150 miles on the truck between the initial visit and the time the replacment had arrived. When they replaced the cluster the mileage was -150 so I think the third party vendor may have programmed the mileage in. All of the gauges and lights work normally but my replacement cluster does not have the "LARIAT" logo where the column shift indicator normally is. I have a console shifter so I don't need column indicator. I was never crazy about the "LARIAT" logo because it wasn't centered in the space anyway. The uncovered backlight is a little bright at night though.

I'm confident that if you replace the cluster you will still need to have it programmed at the dealer.

On a different board they were having this same problems on earlier F-150's. They had a pic of one of the pins on the back of the cluster that the solder was cracked causing this to happen. I am now pretty sure that this is it for me. Battery is good. It looked like an easy solder fix. Just have not had the time to tear dash apart. There is a row of 6 to 8 pins that the odometer plugs into and one of those is notorious for having weak solder.

This is the repair procedure that is in our How To section for the intermittent flashing caused by a bad connection.

I was having the same problem with my display. Finally got sick of it blinking or not working at all and decided to check the pins today. No ribbon cable on mine the display is soldered right to the circuit board. Anyway 2 of the 6 pins were only soldered half of the way. The 2nd pin and the last pin. Everything seems okay so far.

It sounds like I might be having a battery about to go...I have an edge evo thats been going blank or "freezing" on the screen. I had a about 4 guage lights light up tonight (abs, parking brake, and both 4x4 lights) and then go out. The truck is an 05 bought in Jan of 05 so I guess its about that time.
