It's been going in this format only for a short while. Threads can not be started in that section, they must be approved by the mods and copied there. The requirements are that they must be well written, informative and a clean instruction of a procedure for our trucks.

I think a library of "How To" really adds to the benefits of being a part of this site, for all the members. Thanks for your contribution.

Great write up and the truck looks a million times better without those sissy mirrors on it

Looks great. I did the same thing on my 04 STX from before. Time to get some power windows. I did power windows at the same time as the mirrors, as well as power door locks. That was a great project. But I wouldn't trade it again for my FX2 with pretty much power everything. LOL.

Looks good. Anyone know if a F250 mirror swap would work?

Not sure on that one, man. Check the mounting points and shape of the part that it attaches to.

I believe so. When I swapped out the manual mirrors for power ones in my 2005 STX STANDARD cab about a year ago (got tired of folks banging them off tilter in the parking lots cutting between the parked vehicles), I noticed the power mirrors from an XLT I installed used a different bolt pattern. Once the door panels were removed, I also noticed that the doors themselves had several holes for these mirror threaded studs to install into.

I'm betting that the door "inner skins" are all the same for the various Ford F150 models, and they accept any of the mirror packages.

One other side note: My 2005 STX STANDARD cab was NOT pre-wired for the power mirrors. I installed them anyhow and "manually adjusted them. Another buddy of mine has an STX with the back seat. He also swapped out his manual mirrors with power; his WERE pre-wired.
