Transplant complete. :-)

Well I just got my truck back.

In case some of are unaware of my situation, last Thursday my #7 fuel injector stuck open, hydro locking my engine. Under Ford Customer Satisfaction Program 07M08 my truck qualifies for injector replacement and all collateral damage, in my case a hydro locked engine. This program extends the warranty period of all 2005 5.4 liter engines to 11 years, 120,000 miles.

Turns out my #7 connecting rod broke and was wedged against the piston wall due to the #7 fuel injector being stuck open, so I got a new short block, and all items needed for the replacement, all covered.

I went ahead and had the remaining injectors replaced, at my cost, but my dealership swung me a deal so I only had to pay actual cost of the injectors.

I cannot say enough for Bankston Ford in Burleson, Tx. and my service manager, Landon (HDXLT here). They did an awesome job on my truck and put a smile on my face when I left the lot. Kept me up to date on all the progress, which is great since after all they had my baby!

The truck runs great, just like it used to. I was experiencing a curious drop in fuel economy prior to the injector failure, so I'm sure I have that issue under control with 8 brand new fuel injectors and a new short block.

Off to drink some Spaten Oktoberfest to celebrate!!!

Glad to see you had better sucess than me. Took my dealer 3 weeks to get my truck back to me. I had ongoing problems until about 2 weeks ago.

I know. It sounds much quieter now. I can't complain at 72,000+ miles.

I noticed you only mentioned the 2005 5.4...any other models included in that?

Only the 2005 5.4 fuel injectors are covered. Ford must have had a poor vendor who manufactured the injectors used in those 2005 5.4 engines.

Good to hear that the truck is up and going! It is also great to hear of a good dealership experience, most that you hear of are bad.

glad to hear it worked out for you.

i do have a question. leading up to your hydrolocked motor, would the truck ever be hard to start? it happens to me every once and awhile, but today when it happened, i could smell gas when it turned over so i thought about this stuck injector problem i've been hearing about. oh, and does the 11year/12K warranty cover all vehicles? i bought mine from a reputable ford dealer, but i didn't get an extended warranty, though they did through in a power train warranty.
