Is it really that easy!?

So Ive been wanting a set of Harley headlights and saw the mod to paintthe stockers......soo I picked up a set of brand new headlights for 80 bucks today to do this on..planning on painting it gloss black and painting the turn signal..seen it done a few times..Is it really as easy as it seems? I was scared to do it on my stock headlights incase I messed up, but it seems easy enough........any tips or advice?

If you don't heat them up enough the sealant won't release, which will make hard to pry apart. Just follow the steps in one of the painted my headlights threads and you'll be fine.

cook 'em

go slow, and be patient. I would only do the cooking in 10 MINUTE INTERVALS only....@ 250F or less...IMO maybe start at 200F and bump it up if needed

Take it out, pry for about 30 seconds to 1 minute and let it cook a bit more. Just like cooking food, it may take a little while for the heat to reach the inside.

btw, that OEM sealant sucks. The second it starts to cool off, it becomes impossible to work with

fyi on mine, I completely painted the orange turn signal black, if you do the same be sure to unplug the lightbulb that goes there, i have a feeling that my reflector began warping a couple weeks after i painted them and I believe it was because the light bulb heated the plastic enough to warp it. so to be safe i would recommend unplugging that little light bulb for the reflector if you paint the reflector

Just a hint. You can silicone the heck out of the bottom and top. But use it sparingly on the sides because they are still visible once installed.
