high cold start up idle

so every time i start my truck and its cold it revs up to 2000rpm and stays there for about 5 seconds then slowly goes down....i need to fix this because i will be moving to a more residential neighborhood and i dont think they will like my already loud exhaust reving more then it needs to. can this be fixed in the tune?

mods:
jlt intake
pascesetter long tube headers
hi flow cats
magnaflow muffler
80mm bbk TB
efans
tuned by vmp

i know on my Edge i can change my idle, but it will still rev up around 1900 or so. i don't know if retarding or advancing the timing will help. i think it's just a sencer or something and there no way around it. i might be wrong.

There ain't no fixing it. It goes on fast idle at cold start to heat the converters up faster and get into closed loop quicker.

anything after 5 a.m. is fair game...and before 10 p.m.

I can understand both sides of the issue.
I have to listen to my jackass neighbor start his Harley in the garage and go zooming off every morning...or the a-hole down the street who revs up his off-road piped GTO every morning

but then again, I have 2 big v-8's with dual pipes myself that aren't exactly quiet. Especially the Hemi with Flowmasters

I'd just try to keep it to a minimum, and park with the rear-end facing away from houses

I've always wondered this myself.

Like my Dakota for example, I can start it up on a cold morning, and she'll be right at the 550 rpm mark instantly after I turn the key. But all the Fords I've owned all go to 1500 then slowly go down until it reaches closed loop.

What drives me nuts is that mine being stick, I got to wait like 3 minutes before I can drive it or else I'm zooming out of my driveway at 10 mph and that wouldn't be good if a car was coming down the road. But it's also annoying at work too, when I need to pickup something heavy at the loading dock, I got start it up and wait 2-3 minutes before I can go any place.

I mean, it's not good for either transmission... I know a buddy of mine who's got an F150 and gets in, starts it, and drops it in drive at 1500 rpms and the tranny makes a loud pop. Which I've told him numerous times that it's gonna bust your transmission one day, but he still keeps doing it and he told me that, "Why should I let my truck waste my money on gas letting it idle?"... which he's kind of got a point.

However, the Ford diesels you can get right in them, start them up, and they'll idle right at 650 rpms on a cold start. So, I dunno...

FWIW, stock, and in the winter months, I'd get the initial high idle for approx. 20-30 seconds before it came down.
When I hooked up an Edge programmer I bumped the idle up to 800 rpm. I found the high idle on a cold start (cool weather) took MUCH longer than 20-30 seconds before coming back down after bumping the idle. I lowered the idle (125 rpm more on Edge) and since that point it behaves more like the stock tune with shorter cold start high idle.

Perhaps look into lowering your Troyer tuned idle.
