Painted upper and lower grill: what do ya think?
you know what I like! it might look better if you had the honey comb grill.....but to each his own and never seen this before......did you do anything to the surround? i know it has the little bumps did you sand it smooth? But anyway I like it.
You did a good job no question about it, but personally i don't like it.
I think just because of your front end is so black make white grill pop out so much, could have been better if your bumper is white, and lose the hood deflector, that would reduce the amount of black and soft think down a bit, hey but that just me, if you like it keep it cheers

Thanks for all the responses folks and all of your ideas are good ones too. Only thing is, is every idea is exactly what everyone else already has on a truck, painted surround or painted bumper or both, like it would be pretty much from the factory. I like it because it makes mine a little unique, you don't see anything like it on the road. Of course, that could be because it is so damn ugly to everybody else
Thanks again for the responses and keep them coming.

I can appreciate the desire to be different from the pack...but I'm just not feeling the look exactly as you currently have
Think if the upper bumper was PTM...then it would be unique, but look alot better

That probably would look pretty cool Tylus, good idea, just don't have the money for that. I went with what was cheap, fast, and easy. If I had the money, I would have gone with an all white front end, almost like yours, but with a white bumper instead of chrome. Now I'm looking for black ovals for the grill and tailgate. That doesn't cost too much
Biggest problem I've had with the front of the truck (which I've NEVER cared for) is the fact that the bumper, the grill, and the bumper cap are all different shades of black from one another from the factory. Nothing matched. So I figured, keep that theme going and really screw it up
. Right now, the grill is only temporary as I have always planned on getting a new one. How temporary is the question though, cause I'm really liking the look of it now.

I actually like it alot. You don't see many XL's that look that nice. I like your wheel choice and it is definetly one of the more rugged/sharpest looking XL longbeds I've seen. I think it looks damn good and I personally wouldn't be in a rush to change the grille. It adds a nice look IMHO. Im curious how the front end would look painted as the rest say. Maybe even potentially painting all the flat black plastic gloss black for a bit of contrast and shine?
There are at least 3 different black colors on the front of the truck(top and bottom bumper sections, bug guard etc.) if it were a straight black and white set up, it would look much cleaner. Off to a great start!
As I'm looking at it, I am thinking about painting the surround. I figured I'd leave it black and paint it later if I didn't like how it looked now, but I don't know. I think I'll ride around with it like this for a while, I can always paint it later.
I'll try to post that later on today.
