I've searched with no luck. I wanted to know if anyone has installed a set of shorty headers. I had a local muffler shop cut out my muffler and install what they call a power pack. I'm not really interested in performance, just the sound. I had a 06 Mustang GT that I put equal length shorty headers on (total pain in the A**) and loved the improvement in tone. If anyone has done this how difficult was the install and how did they sound?

 

There is actually quite a bit of discussion about this in the exhaust section but like you I havent seen anyone that actually had them. Most of the people in that section will tell you that long tubes are the way to go. But if you are in california we cannot legally put longtubes on.

Whats weird is that on some trucks the shorty headers work great. I used to have an 04 Ram Hemi and the edelbrocks gave a really good gain for shortys. There were even a couple people who had dynos to prove it for the dodges, but maybe our heads on the fords are more efficient than dodges....

 

Long tubes are defiantly the way to go if your looking for performance gains, but that's not what I'm concerned with.

 

I have the gibson on my truck, I like them but a pain in the a&& to put on . Not much power added to it, but sounds great.

 

Why though? Why would you spend that much money on shorty headers, when not much more you can have longtubes to have the "sound" you are worried about AND the performance.

 

I have the Jba shortys on my 06. My mpg went up and has a way better throttle response, and couldnt beat the price that I got them for.
