Just a bit of advice on windown regulators
My driver's side front regulator decided to break yesterday morning, and I have been searching threads on here for how-to's and such on replacing it.
One recurring theme I've noticed in the threads though is that the people that have the most problems seem to always say they never use their windows much, and that because of their problems they try to avoid using them.
Just wanted to let those of you who are in that category know that that is a bad idea! The main reason for failure is the cable getting dry and brittle and then snapping, and the only way they can stay greased is by movement!
When you let your windows up and down (and all of mine are down whenever the weather permits and sometimes when its not, I just like riding with them down) those cables re-lube themselves. Over time the new cables will deposit most of their lube on the pulleys and stress points, and if you don't use your windows then parts of the cables will dry quickly and be much more prone to failing than they are if they are used often.
Just wanted to give you all the heads up!
