My dad has a late 2005 build FX4 S/Crew and all 4 power windows have stopped working. His sliding back glass still works fine, door locks all work fine. He is on medical leave for a hip replacement so if I could get this fixed and save a dealer repair charge he would appreciate it.

all 4 stopped at the same time, or stopped working at different times? have you tried the other switches, or just the driver's?

Start with the basics first-- check fuses, relays, and switches.

 

Trying to re-start this thread. I have the same problem with a 2005 FX 4 screw. All 4 power windows have stopped working. They don't work from the drivers door console, or from the individual door switches either. I checked the 30 amp fusible link in the fuse box thats good. Everything else on the drivers door console works, locks, mirror adjustments. Any ideas?

 

Could it be a loose connection? I believe (correct me if not) that all the power goes thru the drivers door first then the other switches....? Just a thought.....

I'd start by checking your switch on the driver side door panel. If it quits working, none of the other switches will work as I understand it. The switches are known to get dirty and need a cleaning with a file at times.

 

thanks for the responses, will check that out. Might not get to it until the weekend, but if it solves the issues I will report back and let you know.

 

OK pulled the switch, not so hard to do, and it was really dirty. Cleaned it up, looks like new, even tried a small file to clean the metal contact post that go into the plug themselves, same results. I am guessing putting in a new switch would be the next thing to try.
