Rad and tranny flush?

Is it possible to do yourself? If so how do you do it? I've never had either done since i've owned the truck and I don't know the last time it was done because I bought it used. Its an 04 with a 5.4. thanks

How many miles? Don't do the tranny before 100k and make sure the filter is changed, radiator is supposed to go 100k too,you can do it yourself, but disposal sucks and the dealer has a system to remove air pockets. Its worth the 59 bucks to me

If you have a Ford extended warranty you better do the Tranny flush by the book, believe the manual calls for 36,000 miles for a tranny flush.

The best you can hope to do on the tranny is replace the filter and whatever fluid is in the pan. About 80% of the old fluid will still be in the torque converter. To get all of it you need the equipment that the dealer has or a good tranny shop has. They have a machine they connect to the cooler lines that pumps out the old fluid while it pumps in fresh clean stuff. To DIY is a messy job and it's just not worth it.

You could do the coolant flush yourself but it would actually be more of a coolant replace. The kits for flushing at home won't give the same results as the equipment a good shop will use. That machine will power flush and reverse power flush the system to make sure all loose debris is cleaned out.
