PTM Mirrors Finished.. Pics!
well ive been researching this Mod for months and months... most of my thanks goes to FX4Life .. ( along with a buch of others))...
well thursday i decided what the Hey. and luckily for me , the AutoFIshish Paint pLace is only about 1hour drive for me.. so i ordreded up some paint.. and picked it up this morning... and the MOD WAS UNDERWAY
not alot of pics but heres what i did..
1. Removed mirror glass, followed by the Front cap( 4 screws)
( saves alot of time, not having to remover door panel)
2. Scrubbed with degreaser and dawn soap.( masking taped up)
( and i carefully taped the one lil peice of gap like OEM)
3. sanded with 100 grit to get all bumps out, then washed)
4. Followed the previous process. with 180,320, 600, and finished with a wet sand of 1000grit.)

5. 3 coats of FIller Primer.. sanding in between, wet sand on final coat with 1500 grit.. ( this really makes it super smooth )
6. 3 coats of Basecoat,, waiting 20 minutes. in between each coat.
7. after 1 hour,, ready for Clear coat

8. 3 coats clear.. let dry, remove tape, and back to black to clean up)
I have to say this is the first time ive done a mod like this with real paint... and i think i did a decent job.. the paint matches perfect, and they look oem..
ready to go back on truck..( ill have pics with on truck, and with my new FX2 headlighs)

Looks great. I play on doing mine (towing mirrors) shortly when it gets a bit warmer out. Anyone know if the towing mirrors can be taken apart like that?
