Mine makes that sound at startup every once and a while.

You only hear the good noises that some people think are bad noises.

The only noises I have ever heard on my 2007 5.4 3v is when the cold start morning temps were in the teens & below, & they are mild! My truck makes absolutely no startup noises at all! I have even tried to listen to it, in the morning using my remote start with my ear on the hood! I attribute my smooth running/quiet 5.4 3v to running Mobil-1 5W-20 & using the MotorCraft FL-820-S filter since I took delivery.........

maybe i'll have to get a loud exhaust to mask the noise. The first time my phasers wer replaced the dealer told me that they caused my startup rattle, and after they wer replaced the noise did go away for a 10,000 miles are so. Hopefully my noise just stays doing it only intermittently. I only have about 2,000 miles of warrany left but i'm just getting sick of battling this.
