Well....It is fixed. It even idles 10x smoother then it did before. Cylinder #2, #5 and #7 plugs coils were replaced, and the #2 injector. They said they hooked it up to that computer and drove it and 3 of the cylinders were slightly missing. I got there after work and the service director and I took it out and floored it and passed people on the express way and it ran like a new truck. So I'm happy with my truck again.

He was telling me about what a pain in the *** the spark plugs are. He said it takes an average of 4 hours to do. He did a 2005 Lariat today and 7 of 8 broke. I guess its just a bad choice by R&D at Ford.

You had a bad technician. Granted, the plugs are a stupid design, but the tech at my dealer changed the plugs in an 04 in just over 2 hours. The truck had 133,000 miles and none broke. It makes me wonder if the guy at your dealer even attempted to follow the TSB.

I agree, glad it worked out for you. Can't complain too much if it was all under warranty.

The best way to do it is to do a engine decab service, get it nice a hot with some tranny fluid and slowly remove them nice and easy... its not a fun job.

Landon, is your guy still having a high success rate on getting the plugs out with no breakage?

It's Ford's software and interface. The interface module is about $2500, the license for it is about $500/year, and it's a free download from Ford's dealer website.

I use a cordless 3/8" drive impact gun now. Haven't broken any since. F'k the TSB.

TSBs aren't written in stone, and they don't always work 100% of the time.

I understand and agree, there are things learned and they are changed and improved. However, I think some of these guys think they know more than they really do and end up with a lot of broken plugs.
