Post-winter pics

Did a sloppy job of cleaning up my truck today, just basically got the salt off of it and cleaned up the paint...needs detailed bad. Also put on my summer wheels. Just figured I would show off the mods I made over the winter like my mirrors, my aux-input, my xlt headliner and overhead console, and my gryphon and painted pod.

and my next project...my rusty frame

and my horrible paint on my fender flares(also on the list of things to fix...all 4 flares, front bumper, rear bumper, drivers doors and drivers fender all need resprayed)

Besides that stuff, all my future mods are in the signature, gears I believe will be one of my next mods as well as new seat covers, hopefully dark grey 2 tones, may hold off on new wheels this year, but I dont know yet...

Da**, you can tell that you live up north from the pictures of your frame. I have an 04 and my frame has absolutely no rust on it and thats with it being caked with mud for weeks at times.

it wasn't that bad last year, but they used so much brine on the roads this year, it really took its toll on my rig, im going to spray it with some satin black rust oleum in a couple of weeks after I clean it up a little better

i can tell, but when i had my ranger back in the day (99 supercab flareside offroad) i was running 33x12.50 on 15x8 venturas with a 3 1/2" backspace and the bottom on the box on both sides was wore to white after the 1st winter, the 2nd winter it didn't matter, i rolled it then....lol. i wanna do my mirrors but i got a feeling with the winters up here, they will be ruined in no time. there have been a handful of days since my truck was new, that the mirrors were not dirty, always caked with mud or crap.

yeah, I had a ranger with 15x7 nitros on it...its in one of my albums, I had to have the bottom of the bed resprayed because it got so beat up, my brothers flareside is worse than it was...must be the flex of the fiberglass or something

sure are, it was tough in a reg cab being 6'4 and thick though haha, I was taking my brothers over the road if I had to take anything small anywhere to save on gas when it was 4 bucks a gallon, his 01 with the 2.3 DOHC gets 30 mpgs consistently

yea they sure weren't the roomiest trucks ever, i beat the living crap out of those trucks and never have any real issues couple clutchs, grenaded a driveshaft, endless sets of tires, but overall nothing major. they are absolutely insanely priced now, from what i hear they will be put to sleep soon, too bad. most of us ford guys started out in those puddle jumpers and moved are way up.

If you had put a little wax on that frame every year, it really would have kept it from rusting so badly. I remember growing up in PA. My dad would wax all the cars before it would get cold. He would wax everything. Body, wheels, door jambs, underside of the hood. He had some kind of waxy stuff, like surfboard wax, that he would rub all over the frame. I'm not sure what it was, but it kept our cars from getting rusty. He also would take the cars to Ziebart and have them undercoated when they were new. I'm not sure if anyone does that anymore, as I have lived in the south since 1984.

I oil undercoat it every year, wax won't help because brine eats it away on contact

Yeah they are bulletproof. I had 105k on mine and never did anything but brakes and a few small things...still had the original battery after 10 yrs, I did the clutch before I sold it but it didn't need it, they hold their value really well to, I sold mine for a grand less than I paid for it w 70k more miles on it
