Exclamation Vent location switch does not always work

I am talking about the switch that you turn when you want to change which vents the air comes out of. I can't remember the name for it right now.

Anyway, some times it does not change positions. Like today I left to pick up my brother and it was non functional(only position it would work in was to completely turn it off). But after about 4 mins of turning the dial to all the positions it started to work. It has done this one other time also, about 3 weeks ago or so.

The only thing that both times have in common is I have left the dial in the foot only position the night before.

I would like to take it to the dealer before my warranty is up (Aug.) but if it's not doing it i'll get the "get duplicate the problem" bs.

I have also noticed that when it is working right and you change the dial you can hear the door turning and it makes like a sticky rubber on rubber sound....like it is having a hard time turning.....

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Sounds like the blend door not moving like it should. I have the same problem. Of course mine happened right after the warranty ran out.
Though mine only does it during cold air.

Maybe if they know that it's the blend door and that it needs grease or to be replaced they won't be able to give you the can't duplicate junk since you've told them precicely what's not functioning correctly.

Ah...that's the name I was looking. Do you know where it is located?

Exactly, I ran it up there last night while it was doing it, pull up and show the service writer how it is on floor only and it is all blowing out the front vents, he saw that. Then I went to change it and of course it worked fine. But today it did it again twice. It seems like it has to sit a few hours then it does it.

I have an app. on Monday for them to look at it along with a few other small things while I'm at it. I get a free loaner so I guess that's good.

How did they fix it?

I tried looking for the tsb but did not find anything. If you could that number...that would be great.

My blend door make's the squeak when turning the heat on and off. Sometime's I have the same problem as blackjack. It has only happened twice and when the temp was around 30 degree's both time's I had this happen. It's a little annoying but I can overlook those little grimlin's as long as they don't cause any longterm problem's.
