Replacing dome light bulb in 2005 Lariat

Hey everyone!

Just traded my 2001 Supercrew for a 2005 Lariat Supercrew and I noticed I have a light bulb out in the passenger side map/dome light. I cannot see how to get the plastic cover off to replace the bulb. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Paul in Oregon

Thanks for the reply. Are you referring to the larger cover for the entire dome light assembly, or the cover for just that single light?

Sorry for not being more specific. Yes the whole dome light assembly cover.

only way I know how to change the lights is the whole assembly, just grab and pull. I would get LED upgrade lights since your in there. Cost maybe $10 for both lights, looks better and brighter.

Quick follow-up. Went to two Auto Parts stores in town and neither of them sold LED replacement bulbs for the dome/map light. I was forced to get the standard bulbs. Does anyone know where the LEDs and be purchased online? Thanks again!

A bunch of us just got a led kit from ebay that was for both the front and rear dome lights in the supercrew. I got mine in the mail, but haven't installed yet.

Read this thread. It has several different web sites and bulb numbers you need. Very informative. I bought the Premium Interior Lighting Kit from Putco.

That worked perfect, thanks and and free bump to keep this info current. LEDS rock. Now on to the vanity mirrors lights, I see ledlight.com has some 31mm festoon leds, they seem to be the only supplier of this size currently, vleds and superbrite are both out of 31mm, FWIW?
