Just bought an 06 FX4 supercab

Picked this up tuesday, was leaning towards a super crew, but I'm suprised as to how much space the supercabs have in the back. Just hauled 3 adults back there fine today. And I think it'll be nicer having a foot of extra bed space. Anyways, pics!

With my ranger:

2006 F-150 FX4 5.4L

It's amazing how out of the loop I am with new vehicles, my ranger is manual everything and this truck is fully loaded. I think the power rear slider is the neatest thing!

And I plan to do sort of the same mods to the F150 as I did with the ranger, little lift, little bigger meats, some exterior stuff to clean it up, etc..

sweet trucks. heres a quick over view which might help you when you decide to lift/ wheels/tires etc.

Leveling Kits: 2" or 2 1/2" (3" is to much, bad angles, etc) truck will sit level or close to after these.
Tire Size: stock rims 35/12.5 Max only rub at full lock. can use aftermarket with similar specs to oem

2-6" lift = 35's
4" rancho allows OEM wheels w/ lift
6" lift have to use aftermarket wheels

8" lift= 37's
driveshafts need to be lengthened. 37's require a re-gear to relieve stress from the drive train. about $1500 for front and rear. 4.88's is recommended and largest gears you can fit in the front diff

body lifts for the 04-08's are expensive to get done. on average i think i have read over a $1000 after install atleast. sometimes much more.

alot of people here use programmers with custom tuning
top 3 are:
Gryphon from Powerhungry performance (recased edge which allows custom tuning)
Sct Xcal 2 or 3 from VMP tuning (i have this its great)
Sct Xcal 2 or 3 from Troyer

got any questions let me know and ill help you the best i can

Great info, thanks.

I only plan on leveling this truck. I had my eye on the Bilstein leveling shocks. I was hoping to stuff something bigger than a 33 in there. Probably whatever metric size of something equivalent would be the best option.

The first thing I wanted to get was a scangage, does anyone else like those? I wanted one for my ranger but they're only for OBDII vehicles

bilsteins would be pretty sick, IMO the 305 65R 18 BFG All terrains look the best on a leveled truck with stock wheels...scanguages are supposed to be pretty sweet too

he is pretty spot on. i went with a 35 because with my aftermarket wheels, it looked odd having 33s stick out 2in.

i have a scanguage and cant complain at all. if you get one, i recommend getting the rear view mirror mount thats out there. cant recall the brand.

Welcome to this forum as well! lol.
The Bilsteins are great. If you are going less than 35's you could consider doing what Zach did and machining another slot in the front shocks for 1" or 1.5" of lift instead of 2". Just to gain a small amount of down travel from ride height, as they only leave you with around 2". The ride is great, nonetheless and I prefer them to spacers of any sort.
The 305/65's are a great fit and normally the biggest without having any rubbing issues. I fit 35x12.50's with no rubbing but I seem to be the exception, a lot of tires have more tread on sidewalls and will rub the frame or control arm at full steering lock. Zero problems with mine for whatever reason.
The scangauge is nice. I had it in the sport trac and now in the F150. Good thing to have, especially being able to monitor transmission temps.
The gryphon tuner (edge with custom tuning) is preferred around here it seems. I used my old Xcal 2 and have James Henson tune it (he's on the ranger and explorer forums) but his shift programs weren't too good, so I would stick to using someone recommended here, who has tuned F150's a lot.

Is the F150 your daily driver? If so get used to putting gas in it often.
My truck gets 13 mpg and its all stock and I mainly drive on the thruway and northway.

It's going to be my DD, I'm no stranger to the pump, my ranger gets about the same mileage as the F150

I haven't gotten worse than 13 mpg yet with 35's, mostly in town on winter gas and cold temps.
About on par with my ranger and sport trac on 33's.

It was a bit more of a change for me going from a 4 cylinder 5 speed Elantra to the truck. 30 mpg vs 13.

Ive gotten a best of 13.5 and a worst of 12.8 and most of my driving is on the highway and Ive never had the truck above 75.
