Console Opening Mod

Howdy. I know many of you will think this is entirely too ghetto but for the rest... a little RTV sealant and some cut down lawn edging...

Ha! I thought you'd be the first to call it ghetto. I can tell you have expensive tastes.

It definitely works. That cubby is SO useless without a lip. Every time you accelerate uphill, everything slides out of it!

I don't know why I don't have cup holders but certainly this truck doesn't lack for them as it is. I was thinking of switching out for the cup holders but now that I've "fixed" the opening I think it will be more useful to me.

Thanks. There are cupholders for the dash. They "push" in an out. My buddy has them on his f150 that came with the jump seat.

yea what he said. they pull out have 2 cupholders and an ashtray in the middle

and no that's not my truck, it's a pic from ebay

if someone made a nice cubby that was useful and snapped into the spot, i'm sure people would buy it, like the centers shift's ashtray that tilts out, that would be a great accessory IMO, but no one makes something like that, not that i know of anyways

Yeah, I have that not sure why I was so confused haha. Yeah, if they did. I could elimnate those, they are virtually worthless. So are the cupholders in the doors.

The cup holders in the doors are good for water bottles and stuff you haven't opened yet.

Yeah, I put a big whataburger down there once, in 5 miles it was smashed virtually flat against the door!. I may put a bottle of water in their just incase I ever want/need it! Thanks for the idea!

My buddy has his .357 velcroed under those cup holders. It would hide better in the front of the XLT console I keep telling him.

Nice job... I am actually considering this after seeing this thread... I was actually thinking today while at a stop light how usless that little cubby is without anything to stop stuff from flying.

Cool.

The beauty of using RTV over Gorilla Glue is that you can always pull all of it off and remove the residue with Goo Gone if you don't like. But it holds real strong as long as you're not "peeling" it.

Make sure you apply pressure as whatever you use dries. Otherwise it won't impregnate the cracks in either material enough to hold really well. I had 20 pounds on the top of it and 20 pounds on either side too.

Those cup holders would be in the way for me. I personally love the space between the dash and console. Holds a gallon of tea and my wife's purse or a bag of to-go chinese or sushi perfectly.

ATOM, get yourself a set of floor mats with an upturned lip and you'll learn to pick up your boots real quick. Unless you like road rash on your face that is.
