4x4 not disengaging and making winding noise UPDATE
Hey all. I changed both my IWE's and the winding/rumbling sound has gone away, YAY. A big thanks to everyone who chimed in to help with the process because this was my first experience of doing anything to a vehicle. Also a thanks to TN-F150 and jreeder for the service manuals.
Unfortunately, in the wake of this process a new noise has rared its head. It is a heavy metal on metal grinding/scraping noise coming from the front drivers side that was not there before I changed my IWE's. When I apply the brakes there is no change in the sound. It is a constant sound, it does not get quieter as I slow down, and the noise is not different when I turn. It is 9 pm so I am not about to tear my wheels off again but I'm curious if anyone could give me a clue as to what it is I'm hearing. It is definately louder than the IWE's were. The only thing I can come up with is the rotor is rubbing on that shield that is on the backside of the rotor, but I could be wrong. I did notice when I changed my IWE's that there is no room between the rotor and pads and that was on both wheels. When you spin a front wheel with just one side jacked up should it continue to spin or does it stop itself pretty quickly? I did not have another person to check and see if it is my calipers sticking. If it is I'm going to scream. Anyone else have this? I have my fingers crossed hoping it is nothing serious.
Thanks again for everyones help.

I had a look today on my lunch break and it was the dust shield on the backside of the rotor that was rubbing. For those of you changing your IWE's make sure you don't bend that shield up against the backside of your rotor when you are going through the process. It is so nice to not have to drive in 4x4!
