This is the model I too plan on getting. Are you going to install it yourself?

Best price I have found so far.

I have Clifford. But clifford viper and most others are DEI products so they are all the same, I screwed myself when I did it. I wanted the two way pager and remote start, got quoted 556 and 712. Instead I got regular and then added remote start later(none pager) I ended up paying 585 total.

the only problem with them is that the two way remotes suck. they go bad pretty easy. we have lots of people come back to us after we install them because their two way remotes dont work but the 1 way does. other than that the new viper remote starts are great. the virtual tach feature, checks voltage to crank the car without grinding the starter is awsome. they also have a battery drain feature that will remote start the truck if the battery hits a certain voltage.

My wife found one that was $20 at Target. It was marked down from $80. I opened it up, watched the video. I quikly realized I had to buy a bypass unit, which was another $20(most ran closer to $30). Then I read that all connections were supposed to be soldered (and I dont own a soldering iron and I remember I wasn't very good at it). I figured it was easily a full day job, so I decided I did not want to do it myself. I called one place and it was between $200 and $250 to install my parts. I figured it wasn't worth all the trouble, so punted the whole idea and took the $20 remote starter kit back to Target.

I could have done it, but for me, it just wasn't worth the effort. Now if I lived further North, it would have been a bigger deal, but we get about 4 snows a year where I am at. Call me lazy but I would rather use my time in other ways.

DEI makes great remote starts. Got a friend that installs remote starts for people around here and pretty much won't touch it unless its a DEI. He hasn't installed that specific model but me, him, and his wife have the older version of it. If you have never done an install like this it is pretty tricky. I let my friend do it because he had it done in about an hour as he knows his way around the truck and the remote start. Good luck

geez, you and yetti96 aren't too good at searching the internet for the best price. Instead of paying $280 shipped from that link he posted, I found the 5901 for $205 shipped here:

http://www.amazon.com/Viper-2-way-se...6139591&sr=1-1

In addition to ebay, always try Amazon.com or Nextag.com for finding the best price.

I might get the 5901 for my new truck or I might wait it out for the new Viper 7701.

I've had a Viper w/ 2-way remote (Viper 771XV Remote Start w/ Security) on my truck for almost 3 years. Has worked perfectly since day one. I have no complaints and this is probably one of my favorite upgrades.

Code Alarm SRT-9000 model for me. I'm in the middle of installing it right now but have used it on a few other vehicles and its a great alarm and remote start combo.

Features include
- Full color screen LCD keyfob
- USB and AC rechargable keyfob so no need to replace batteries anymore
- 1 mile range of operation
- Uses horn of truck instead of siren or horn and siren if you want that extra noise and oomph to the alarm
- Can be started or armed or disarmed via a phone call w/ an extra upgrade to the alarm if you want to use it.

I got it from Travis at KC Autosound for under 400 bucks already prewired for the ford truck with a full color detailed instruction sheet on which wire everything goes to and how to route everything. Made the install super easy and pretty quick. My key transponder/fooler piece that it came with wasn't working right, so I'm waiting on a replacement for that, but the alarm works fine until I get that in to allow it to remote start.

I'd highly suggest and recommend talking to Travis ahead of time about any alarm purchase. He knows his stuff and is a great support to many of us here on F150 Online.

X10 on Travis at www.kcautosound.com

If you guys like the Viper 5901 he offers the same system in the Python line P991. As well as other systems from Autostart, Code Alarm, Compustar and Avital. His system aren't dirt cheap but he wires them up for you, gives you instructions and back is up with tech help and WARRANTY! You get what you pay for.

I spoke with him yesterday and he was in the middle of taking pictures of a 09 F150 that we was installing a remote starter on. He's going to have installation instructions ready to go for it.

Thumbs up Viper 5901

I put this in my 07 Screw last week and love it! I got mine off of amazon for $200 and found a shop in tampa,fl to install for $185! I have not found it anywhere else cheaper than that. This alarm has more than you will ever need! I would definitly recommend!

i've got a viper 5701 on mine and had a viper 560xv. The new viper alarms are a little different to hook up so be careful. The F150 is not a bad truck to work on its actually pretty easy. The worst part is the individual door triggers because the module behind the god blessed back seat that I can't seem to get out easily for nothing in this world. The new two way remotes are having problems but supposedly there is a "fix" in the works from dei.

Ive got a viper 7900 color 2way remote start plus crazy alarm. Ive got 3 sirens total, glass breakage sensors, 4 shock sensors, window modules, and a proximity (unplugged because it got annoying, dont get it). I love it. Will start it from a long way away and the notification if the alarm gets set off is really nice. I got all the pieces off amazon and then took them to circuit city to get it installed. I think total it cost me 600 installed. For the alarm, remote start, 3 sirens, 4 shock sensors, bypass module, window module, proximity sensor, glass breakage, everything. It helped that i knew the guy at CC so he cut me a good deal on install.

I would definatly like more info on remote starting if the battery gets too low. If my truck sits for a week the battery will die. It starting itself up once in a while would be nice. Any more info?

I have a CompuStar 2WFMA alarm/remote start installed in my truck and love it. Of course I got mine installed back in April 2007 so there are more upgraded models than mine, but just wanted to say that I think CompuStar makes some great systems as well. Just shop aorund and ensure whichever one you get has all the features you want.
