CEl light, no code?

OK, I did a brief search on this with some possible ideas but nothing solid. On my way home this morn, I was about 1/4 mi from the driveway when I heard a pop like a blender door or something. Then the wrench light came on. Ran ok to the driveway (driveway on a steep incline and off a high traffic road). I give it gas to go up but it fell on its butt. I held the brake on trying to think of how to get up the drive since I have read about the "limp home mode". I shut off the engine for about five seconds and restarted (with a few extra cranks it started and no cel light) I shifted into drive and made it up the driveway. Parked and listened for noises. Nothing was abnormal. Truck did not shake during all of this. I used my scangauge 2 to check codes with none found. The temp was about 192 deg. I checked under the hood for leaks but none found. Now, was this a freak misfire or dirt in injector or something like that? The only thing that is different is I got filled up the gas at a different station saturday night. I replaced the fuel filter this past fall. I have a completely stock engine. Never had a problem like this in almost two years of owning it. Thanks in advance for any help or ideas.
