My factory gears ( 3.73's ) went bad at 70,000 miles it made like a loud whooping/howling sound when I was in the 40-50 mph range. I would take the truck back to the shop ASAP and have a tech or somebody ride with you and let them hear the noise that your truck is making.

Well took the truck back and they are redoing the gears. I have a ? though. Would this noise that was being maed by the gears cause it to lose some power? Or make it feel more sluggish?

It could feel less powerful because the power transfer isn't happening properly.

How long did you drive it like that? If it was over a hundred miles I'd want new gears...

Well the gears meshed wrong. It probably got worse as they wore into the weak parts of the teeth.
