Windshield Replacement

Had my truck for 2 years and got my first major rock peck yesterday. Called my insurance company and they assured me that they can send someone out to repair the peck free of charge. I agreed, but I also asked about replacing the entire windshield if I'm not satisfied with the repair. I also told them that I have the signature HD/Ford alliance logo on the glass. They seemed to be helpful and said it shouldn't be a problem to replace a specialty windshield. I did a little research and Carlite seems to be the OEM Ford glass manufacturer. Luckily, there is a Binswanger glass company here that is a Carlite dealer/installer. Anybody dealt with replacing the OEM windshield with another Carlite/Ford? I would really like a quality replacement OEM with the logo as is. Hopefully, the repair will satisfy me. :o - Og

It is not a problem getting them with the logo. On my old 04, which I bought in early Sept of 03, I had the windshield cracked by a stone after having it 10 days. Glass company had no problem finding the glass. Biggest problem they had was learning how to remove the trim, etc to do the replacement. Have already had my 07 windshields replaced last year and will soon have to have it done again from another stone strike.
They can usually get the replacement within a day.

What company/installer did you use? Local or nationwide company? - Og

Have had different. First was Safelite, second was Royal. Not sure whether Royal is just local, regional or national. I think Safelite is national.

Just checked, Safelite is national, Royal is regional.

I'll check with Safelite on the OEM glass. They're the ones coming to do the repair. Thanks, King! - Og

I had mine replaced by a local company, The Glass Station. Got the oem w/the logo and everything. Install went smooth and no leaks or wind noise. I should have tried to remove the "built in plant" sticker though, just to have.

Anyways, good luck

Thanks. If I decide to go with a new one, I'll try to "heat" off my Dearborn sticker. Hopefully the repair will suffice. Wonder if you could order one of those "Built" stickers from the dealer? - Og

The dealer just ordered my replacement yesterday. The lamination or whatever it is between the glass looks like crap. Luckly it's being replaced under warranty. (I did have a small rock nail it the first week I owned it too, that will go away)
