Question Confused!!!

Here lately my truck has been acting funny on start up, it tries to crank and sometimes takes longer to, also today i got to my class and parked into the parking lot and cut off the truck and turned on the radio, then all of a sudden the radio cut off and i heard a ticking from the front of the truck then my gauges all flashed and it reset my tachometer? the radio turned back on after that?????

Buddies are telling me battery or alternator, any ideas?

Shoot for the battery. Its a lot easier to check the battery than it is to check the alternator. Using meters and testers anyways. If the battery test shows its ok, then i'd go with the alternator. Check that. Stuff like this can also happen when a short out is present. I remember having a live wire from the battery rubbing up against my frame and causing my radio to blink, and would cause my lights to flash off for a small period of time. Usually if your truck starts kind of slow, as in like a slow crank, its a weakening battery. But that can be caused by a weakening alternator. So charge up the battery, then test it. Wal-Mart or just about any shop will do that free of charge.

It's a battery warning.
