The buying forum seems to be RIP so I thought I'd risk ridicule and harassment and ask here. Looking at a 2008 base-model 150. Wondering if factory is paying dealer any cash on sales of those? You know, extra bonuses to the dealer to get them to move trucks?
I'm looking at a V6 basic F150... I only plan to do short distance light hauling of debris, major appliances, gravel, dirt, lumber, whatever. Stuff for house remodels. I think the V6 is all I'd need but will I be sorry I don't have the V8?

I just have the 4.6 in my truck and I really with I had got the 5.4. The 4.6 is just too small a motor it seems, especially after I added the slightly bigger tires, and if you do any towing at all you are going to be disappointed.
My driving style is pretty conservative, too. I'm real slow off the line, to the point where grandma and her grand marquis usually is passing me and I average about 14mpg. Alot of that has to do with the slightly bigger tires I added on, but I'm convinced with the 5.4 I would be getting better mileage just because the motor isn't working as hard. Its just too heavy of a truck.
Now, if you are looking for a 2wd truck, I could get 21 mpg on the freeway with my old truck. It was the exact same thing, minus 4wd, but I never towed with it and never added the tires on it so the comparison isn't that accurate.
If this isn't going to be a daily driver, have you thought about just an older used truck? You could find a 93-96 F150 with the 300 inline 6. Bulletproof motor, easy maintenance, and loads of torque.
