Burning Smell, any idea?

for my 04 F150 with 48k miles

Noticed it today driving, when I got out i tried to locate it by sniffing and found out that the strange smell was coming from rear passenger tire area, something sticking?

I'm out of warranty so its all out of my pocket now so any advice as to what it may be and how to fix it would be great?

I first thought my tuner was reading my mpgs off but I'm getting the same gas mileage now that I was getting before the tunes as if the Truck is having difficulty accelerating as if a brake cable or something locked back there.

Help?

Check the e-brake. It could be a over tight or a shoe has loosened and rubbing against the drum (e-brake drum, regular brakes are disk).

You will have to pull the rotor and check to see if the e-brake shoes are bad. If you can not push the e-brake pedal even half way down, then they may need to be adjusted as they are probably too tight.
I had the same problem as you on my 04, and never used the e-brake. For whatever reason the would rub somewhat causing the heat and smell. If you do use your e-brake and they are not releasing properly, then that could be and adjustment, or a bad cable.
Going to have to do some detective work.

Alright thanks and yeah I use it alot since I bought it, hills everywhere so I always put it on and I like to climb the F150 on top of snow banks leaving it leaning down so I use the ebrake alot! lol

So most likely, that is my problem because its really dragging me.

Thanks
