painted mirros and door handle pictures
well as a matter of fact i actually went to 3 places for a written quote.
first place wanted 650 to paint and wanted me to remove handles. screw that
second place wanted 1000.50 to paint and they will remove. WOW. then he referred me to some guy around the corner who does good work at this little shop. he wants 400. but all the places i went to said they will still be textured. i want it smooth. what do i tell them?
anybody know any good shops here in cali?

So, $400 for 5 handles and mirrors that will have a textured finish when done? Yeah, that seems like a reputable painter.
I have seen several threads on here that have had people getting quoted less than $200 for just the handles. And, since it is a such a simple task to remove these parts, I assumed the OP would be removing them himself.
Maybe $400 is fair to some people, but I would never pay that much.

As I stated before, over half of that $400 will be in materials alone. The smallest they can mix up is a pint, and they will charge you every bit of that despite not needing 1/2 of it.
Too bad his color isn't the same as a Mark LT. Then he could do what I did and purchase the LT handles and install them himself.

Do you think you can take off the door handles yourself? If so, buy the Harley Davidson model handles from Tasca, drop them off at a body shop to have them painted, and then put them on yourself. And then sell your stock handles to make a few bucks back.
Some body shops don't want to be hassled by painting just a few parts like that, so that's why they will give you a high quote like $1000. If you bite on it, then they just made a big profit off you.
I left my truck along with the following parts to paint and install;
DG roll pan, 06-07 PTM front bumper, used tonneau cover, used black grille surround
and the matte black mirrors on the truck.

I picked it up like this.. washed and waxed

$800 which included a tip for the guys who helped

Maybe different areas charge different, but as ATOM stated I paid $300 for mine and didn't touch a thing. Everything came out real smooth. A friend of mine got the plastic painted on the back bed of his avalache along with the mirrors for $1400. Thats alot of plastic and a chevy is textured more. (more sanding).
There is a decent amount of work involved to take all of that stuff off. My GOOD friend owns a body shop, and he was going to charge me $500-600 to paint the handles, mirrors and fender flares. He said there is alot of prep work involved. $400 is a fair price I think.
That's what I was thinking.
I can get all 5 already painted black LT handles for $327 from Tasca. They have other colors and styles too, painted or unpainted.
