Transmission shift problem

I have a delima and came here to ask for help.I have a supercrew 5.4 with 4wd. I am going to turn it in as a lease in 1 month. It has had an issue with shifting from 1st to 2nd gear since new.It doesnt positively hit 2nd, it basically feels like it is missing the gear. The dealer has attempted to fix it several times with no progress. You know the story, it happens when you drive it, but whenever the dealer gets it... it runs perfect. My question is, do any of you have this problem? Has anyone had this problem fixed? Should I give it back to the dealer or buy it out? Thanks guys, great site for really good info.

See as how your residual is going to be way higher than what the truck is actually worth let them keep it and get yourself something else.

if he dealer cant/wont fix it under warranty, then its possible that you could be looking at future transmission repairs that could cost as much as $2,500 if they have to take it out and bascally rebuild it. it may cost less to fix but i wouldnt count on it.

if it were me, i would take the price of the buy out and add $2000 if you dont think they are going to fix it. take that number and compare it to what you would spend on another truck or car and see if its worth it...

Thanks guys, I just found the info on the shift problem.I have the TSB and what I need to get it fixed.I wasn't looking hard enough on here.I love this site!I knew I wasn't imagining this defect. As far as buying, The dealer already told me I could get it for less than the residual. But with the economy the way it is, I don't want to get on the hook for an expensive truck, and then have to repair it. But I hate to buy someone else's problems either.I guess Ill have to check my wallet, get the price, then check my wallet again.....LOL.... I wouldn't mind another lease, but a lease is out of my reach now.Now if I buy, Ill have another decision...which first, tuner, lower the back , or some backup sensors.......decisions decisions.......
