its wheeel/drop planning time
its wheeel/drop planning time (no more planning, it's DONE)
so here i am sitting in kandahar thinking about my truck... and i have some need for real world inputs... i want to drop it 2/4 , 2/5 or 3/5. and i want to get an idea of wheel size. not looking at style right now, just size. 22's, 24's or....26's. what do you think? i am kind of leaning towards 24's but i want your opinions. tell me why you think what you think.
a few notes.. i tow a travel trailer every now and then, will install air bag helpers for that.
the ride is important but it IS a truck, and i have the Malibu to take road trips in.
the wheel wells are that big for a reason, lets fill them up!!!
plus i need a reason to get rid of the steps
Thanks in advance!!!! Dave

I guess it all depends on the look you're going for, but I think 22's are the way to go with these trucks. 24's are a little too "urban" for my taste, and my 22's hurt my ride enough -- no need to make it any worse with 24's.
i too am looking to drop my truck and im leaning towards the 2/4 drop who makes a good kit?im going with 22s.is there anything important to know about the wheels like backspacing or anything?or even a good size tire?

first off do not do an axl flip on the rear....get new leafs
then go with a 2/4 drop with 24's....if you have the blocks over the rear axles (i think they are standard on trucks with tow package on certain years if not all) remove the blocks and a 2/4 will yeild about a 2/5 from where you started...no blocks then you get a true 2/4

I little rub is when I turn sharp to the left, it rubs slightly on the fender liner, like I said it is no big deal and could be corrected very easy I am just too lazy!! LOL
I think I could 5 in the rear but my tires and wheels do not "tuck" so to speak so with too much flex it could hit the bed side

its not just the wheel size but the tire size that make a difference too. if you like really low profile tires, then you will want 24's, 26's are just too big IMO.
i like a little meat on my tires because A. they ride better, and B. its still a truck, running a skimpy little layer of rubber just doesnt do it for me.
heres mine with a 3/5 drop and 305/40's on 22's

we are in agreement, no flip kit. so what are some of the offsets being ran? what is a good "tuck" offset? i am a fan of a nice fat lip on my wheels. there are some sic trucks represented in the thread..
mine are 9.5" wide with a +40mm offset. they have a pretty good lip and the tires end almost perfectly with body, which IMO is perfect for a street truck. any more of an offset and your wheels/tires will extend past the body and any less and you will have less of that meaty muscle car look...

Eibach Pro-Truck System
I am lurking around the threads lately, also wanting to give my baby a better stance and remove some space between the wheels and body.
There have been a few active threads about the Eibach Pro-Truck system lately, which I am leaning towards purchasing.
Autoanything has them available with free shipping. Just the other day they were offering a 10% discount on purchases. I did not have my funds in order at the time to make the purchase but I think that if I were to call and ask, they would honor the discount. They at least offer price matching guarantee for a year IIRC.
