2008 F150 Alarm System

Does a 2008 Ford F150 have an Alarm System or something like that from the factories ? If yes, how is it supposed to work ? My salesman doesn't know...

Its basically an passive alarm system. Which means you get a red light on the dash that blinks when you lock the doors. That's it, it's useless!!

The only usefull thing IMO is the recovery system, look at botom of your driver or passenger window you will see a police tracking number. I put the number into my cell phone just incase my truck is gone. Call the number give them your code and they will be able to find your truck via GPS.

But ya there is no alarm exept a panic button....

Ok thanks ! But where do I get the code for the tracking number ? Is it wrote on the sticker or is it in my VIN ?

The fancy blinking light on the dash is for the PATS system. The PATS system communicates with the chip in your key. Without a matching chip, the system will not allow the ignition to be started. While the PATS system is not fool-proof (there are ways to defeat it), it is better than nothing (had my former Dodge Ram stolen by them breaking the ignition cylinder -- real easy).

The PATS system is only for the ignition -- it will not do anything to prevent someone (or alert) from breaking in, or from moving the truck with a flatbed.

If you are worried about it, then you might want to purchase lo-jack. or just put on an alarm but sometimes those are ultra sensitive.

Are you talking about the numbers that are etched into the windows?
