Have 2.5" Leveling Kit, Want An Extra 0.5", How To?
I have a 2.5" Skyjacker leveling kit and I want a full 3" in the front. Right now the front sits about half an inch higher than the rear, and I'm on 275/65 32" tires. I'm wanting to get a full 3" in the front, add 1" rear blocks to flatten the stance out, and throw some wider and more aggressive 33x12.5 mud terrain tires on it.
The tires are easy...just buy new ones. Same with the rear blocks.
What's the best way to go about getting a 3" level in the front since I already have a 2.5" kit on the car? Just pull it and throw a 3" kit in? I'm new to all this and read about cranking some torsion bars for about the amount of extra lift I'm looking for. Is that an option on these 04-08 rigs or only on 97-03s? And if it is, how do I go about it?
Thanks for any help.

97-03 are the f150's that can be cranked up with torsion bars. most guys on here will say that 3" leveling kit is too much, but you can do what you want. i know that hmfic had the skyjacker 3" suspension lift and 2.5 autospring leveling kit on 2 different trucks and yielded more lift from the autospring. the extra 1/2" of lift isn't gonna matter is you want a 33 inch tall tire, the rim width and backspacing will be the key factor in fitment.
My Skyjacker 2.5" got me exactly 2.5" of lift so I can't complain about the kit. The 3" isn't for clearance. And I know it's only an extra half inch but I'd just like it to look a little taller up front, hence the 3" lift in the front. Then I can add 1" rear blocks also and get the truck up just a touch higher. It's a 2WD and I never offroad it, so the only stress any of the suspension sees is just daily driving (and the roads around here are pretty good). I'm curious why people say a 3" leveling kit is a bad idea? What does it place added strain on? Considering my driving conditions I think I'll be OK but would like to know just in case.
i have head trucks dead level and it pissed me off, every time i was parked on a slanted surface, i had a cali rake going on (bulldoggin) balljoints are not mean to be at such angles, doing so will increase the wear on them.
what do you mean by this?
My truck is 0.5" higher in the front right now. A 2" level would have been perfect to get the truck dead level. I don't mind a little nose up or level, hate nose down on trucks.
I'm on factory shocks right now too. I've heard of people adding air shocks or I think the Bilstein 5100s (?) and getting a little extra height that way too. A viable option in this case?

you can use the bilsteins and a spacer but not in the way you are referring to. you can set the bilsteins at zero lift and use the spacer or you can use the bilsteins set at 2 inch lift, but they cannot be used together.
Personally I would not do 3" up front. That is alot of stress on the upper and lower ball joints and you run the risk of ripping a boot and in turn ruining the joint. So I would so leave it the way it is and have it "cali style" or put a small block under the rear and have it raked alittle bit. If you must have it level then take out your 2.5" and put in a 2" kit, but I would not put a 3" kit any where near my truck. But the truck is yours, so do what you want.....

Well I added fender flares and it's made the truck look quite a bit better so I think for now I can do without the extra half inch in front. I don't want to add a 1" block in the rear but if I can find a half inch block I might add that just to even out the truck. The flares really did a lot more for looks than I thought they would. Thanks for all the help guys on steering me clear of the 3" kit and the associated problems.

i guess it's a cali thing being nose high, but i hate it. i used to have my silvy dead even and everywhere i went it look stupid, the rear end is supposed to be higher, just my preference, not to mention hauling with a dead level truck looks like your overloading it
Yeah ATOM is right its the back spacing that you need to worrie about when your getting new rims, i'm currently getting so meny different opinions when it comes to this matter. Some guys are saying they ran a 20x10 rim on a 2.5" leveling kit with no rubbing issues some say they had to trim about an inch of material. It's really making me not want to lift my truck and put new tires and rims on...
