rusted rear diff housing

anyone else notice a lot of surface rust on their pumpkin in the back? Mine is rusted and we dont even salt the roads here! WHat can I do to get rid of it? Can I get a product that eats up the rust? I know there is something that you can out on rust and it turns it black. I just cant remember the name

Mine is has a little surface rust on it, but I also wash the truck alot and it has only been driven on the salty winter roads around here maybe a dozen times in more than 3 years that I have owned it.

Is the product you are thinking of POR15? If not, check the stuff out, it work good.

no...thats not the stuff. The stuff I am talking about is a blue liquid that sort of looks like windex. When you apply it to a rusted surface it foams a little then turns the rust black. The you can paint it or whatever. I am thinking of just rubbing some sand paper on the rust and see what happens. I dotn think its very thick rust at all. I havent crawled under to take a close look yet.
