Smoked tail lights write up?
Smoked tail lights write up?
So I've wanted my tails smoked for some time now but didn't feel like paying a lot of money to buy a set of new ones when mine are perfectly fine. Is there any sort of spray that I would be able to pick up for a lot cheaper and simply spray my lights to tint them? This should be the best option IMO because then I don't have to worry about any tint pealing off of them because it'll be sprayed on.
Any thoughts, info, opinions?

Search for Nite Shades. There have been plenty of "write-ups" on how to apply it and how to make it look good. Another option is to take it to a paint shop and see if they'll paint it for you.
There is a guy on ebay that will send you a set of smoked lights and then give you a credit back if you send him yours. It'll end up costing you about $100.00 after he gives you the credit back. Got mine yesterday and they turned out great.

I've seen him on ebay before but I checked his store and he's only got the tail lights for the 97-03.
Sorry I missed yours. It was in the 'Body'--'Other Body' section and I wouldn't have thought to look there. Nice write up BTW. Thanks.
me too. have blacked out tail lights is just a good reason to get pulled over IMO. not to mention if you ever get rear ended, they could try to blame you. i hear of guys blacking them out and getting a line of fire to keep them safe. i wouldn't risk it
Msall did a write up on this

I'm going to do it soon so yeah. Depending on the cops in your area, do take some precaution!

1) Buy VHT nightshades from summitracing - $12
2) BUy clearcoat from hardware store - ~$10
3) take off taillights/3rd brake light, tape off parts that you want to remain untinted (i taped off the clear reverse lights and bed access lights)
4) 2-3 coats of nightshades, leaving 15 minutes between each coat to dry.
5) 2 coats of clear, leaving 30 minutes between coats to dry.

He doesn't always have all models listed, but he does it all. This is the guy I used on ebay just email him and he'll do them whatever shade you want.
