Smoked tail lights write up?

So I've wanted my tails smoked for some time now but didn't feel like paying a lot of money to buy a set of new ones when mine are perfectly fine. Is there any sort of spray that I would be able to pick up for a lot cheaper and simply spray my lights to tint them? This should be the best option IMO because then I don't have to worry about any tint pealing off of them because it'll be sprayed on.

Any thoughts, info, opinions?

Search for Nite Shades. There have been plenty of "write-ups" on how to apply it and how to make it look good. Another option is to take it to a paint shop and see if they'll paint it for you.

There is a guy on ebay that will send you a set of smoked lights and then give you a credit back if you send him yours. It'll end up costing you about $100.00 after he gives you the credit back. Got mine yesterday and they turned out great.

You were referring to "smoked_lights" correct?

I've seen him on ebay before but I checked his store and he's only got the tail lights for the 97-03.

Sorry I missed yours. It was in the 'Body'--'Other Body' section and I wouldn't have thought to look there. Nice write up BTW. Thanks.

me too. have blacked out tail lights is just a good reason to get pulled over IMO. not to mention if you ever get rear ended, they could try to blame you. i hear of guys blacking them out and getting a line of fire to keep them safe. i wouldn't risk it

Msall did a write up on this

he said

1) Buy VHT nightshades from summitracing - $12
2) BUy clearcoat from hardware store - ~$10
3) take off taillights/3rd brake light, tape off parts that you want to remain untinted (i taped off the clear reverse lights and bed access lights)
4) 2-3 coats of nightshades, leaving 15 minutes between each coat to dry.
5) 2 coats of clear, leaving 30 minutes between coats to dry.
I'm going to do it soon so yeah. Depending on the cops in your area, do take some precaution!

He doesn't always have all models listed, but he does it all. This is the guy I used on ebay just email him and he'll do them whatever shade you want.

I'm not looking to black them out entirely, just shade them a bit so they don't look so red. I would hope that this wouldn't get me in trouble. My windows are tinted and that always gives me a scare but so far so good ::knock on wood:: My girlfriend just got a ticket a few weeks back for her windows on her 04 black scab. They were about the same tint as mine. Luck of the draw maybe? I thought that it was most likely because they look darker with her black paint.
