Arrow Impending New Owner! A few questions..

Hey what's up. Well, I should be buying an '04-'06 F150 here very soon, within a month or two.

I've never really followed them too much, but it's definitely what I want. So, I have a few questions...

So is there only 3 bed sizes (5.5, 6.5, 8), or is there more options?

I want a supercab Lariat (4wd), not a crew cab, because I want to be able to fit an ATV in the bed without leaving the tailgate open. Will an ATV fit in the 6.5ft bed, and still be able to close? I'm pretty sure it will, but just want to make sure.

Oh great, now I'm forgetting a lot of the questions I had..

*sigh*

I'll think of more tonight, but this question will do for now. lmao

It's going to be so hard to find the exact truck I want. It HAS to be a Lariat, has to have under 70k miles, has to have heated leather seats, has to have a moonroof, and has to have the center console shift. Atop all that, it has to be the right color (preferably Arizona beige, but silver will do also). I REALLY want the leather to be black, but I've never seen an Arizone beige with black leather...it's always tan

Oh ya, what is the stock rim size on an '04-'06 Larait 4wd? Are they 18's, or 17's?

Thanks in advance for any help, I'll be hanging out here a lot in the neat future I'm sure!

ATV will fit in a 6.5 no problem, mine fits with room to spare. Of course it is a sport quad, I'm sure some of the guys with utility bikes will chime in as well.

Why stuck on a Lariat? Stock rim size is 18" with an optional factory 20" wheel.

How big is your ATV? If it's less than 6.5' it should be able to fit in a 6.5' bed with the tailgate closed right?

I have both, sport quads and utility quads. The sport quads are actually longer, so im sure both will fit.

THanks for the help guys!

Im really just stuck on a Lariat because I like the little added features, like heated seats, climate control, etc.

ITs gonna be so hard to find what Im looking for though, so who knows...I may have to change some things.

why not a screw with the 6.5ft bed? and the fx4 and KR also have heated seats as an option.

X2, that's what I was thinking. For example, get an 2007 FX4 with the luxury package and that would be as nice or nicer than a 2005 Lariat.

The screw with the 6.5 just looks toooo long to me, plus I dont really need an screw since Ill hardly ever have any others in the truck. I just really like the super cab.

2007 FX4? How do they differ from the 04-06 FX4's? The thing is, my budget is maxxed at about $15k, so I dont think a 07 FX4 wil go that low, especially with a luxury package.

Go to Ford's website, then click on the "build your own" button. That will show you what options are available. Now "build" your ideal truck, print out the spec sheet when you're done, then use that to compare any used trucks you find.

Odds are, for $15K you aren't going to get the loaded truck you're looking for unless it has ALOT of miles. My 2005 FX4 has a blue book value of almost $18k with 42k+ miles for private sale. It's got everything you want except heated seats, which you could install yourself for maybe $200.

Cool, thanks for the tip, Ill check it out.

Believe it or not, I've seen trucks in my range with everything I want, expect for the colors. I just saw an 05 Lariat (loaded) with 50,000 miles but it was white...I don't want a white truck. It went for $14,200.

For those that have went with bigger tires, did you see a drastic drop in fuel economy and power? I'd like to go bigger, but just slightly bigger than stock maybe.

I lost about 1.5, maybe 2. I do almost all city driving though.

20" wheels, 34.7" tire.

Can you guys tell me the differences between the 5.4 and the 4.6?

Obviously the 5.4 is bigger, but which is known to be more reliable? Is there a difference in fuel economy?

Thanks!

You're looking at about a 70HP difference between the two.

The 5.4L has had some spark plug issues, where the plug end up seizing and breaking off. There's a special procedure that reduces the odds of breaking a plug, there's also a special tool to remove broken plugs. Your local dealership should have both those. After you change them the first time, there shouldn't be any more issues.

As for fuel economy, I don't think one is really that much better than the other. I guess it'd depend on how you use the truck and what kind of conditions you drive in.

I have an 08 FX4 Luxury. Heated seats, power drivers/passenegr seat, black leather, flow through console, EATC, etc

Only thing the lariat has is the message center .. .which I had in my Volvo S60-R. Never used it. I gauge my gas by trip meter and that was the only nifty thing abut a message center.

Good luck
