what kind of tools to install running boards?

I found a guy that is selling his running boards off a truck he is returning, He wants $100 for them and told me that he'll let them go cheaper if I remove them myself, and was wondering, what kind of tools do I need to remove them?

He lives about an hour away from me, so I want to have everything I need when I go get them

socket wrench? what size are the sockets?
thanks in advance

not sure on the size of sockets, I would definetely take safety glasses because you will for sure get dirt in your eyes, and I actually had to cut 4 of my bolts off with my dremel...might need that...I only had mine on the truck for one winter and the slide nuts boke and were spinning freely

yeah just a few different sockets was all it took

extra set of hands is nice too

also your prolly gunna want a breaker bar, for those stubborn rusted bolts

and safety glasses is a great idea, sounds silly, but you ll be amazed how much crap will fall on you

oems i believe are a 12mm. like 8 bolts on each side really simple. takes 20 minutes to install

i took off some aftermarkets and they were 13mm or 14mm.

but basic hand tools is all you need

same here, $8 for some good safety glasses is better than a $300 trip to ER for metal in eye

I'd take some rust penetrant spray along... as soon as you get there hit all the bolts with a good spray.

Maybe take a pipe wrench in case you end up rounding one of the bolt heads... you could use that to maybe get the bolt off (or break off the head)

And, as said before, a full set of sockets and your biggest bar

sockets and a flat head to get the nut tab things off! very simple. You might also want to have someone to catch the step before it falls down too

I bought a new set that look like the ones in your picture. Put them on my 2008 f150 in 20 minutes. The clips are the special part. Take ALL the clips in the body. Use Liquid Wrench and spray them good, let it soak in (about one or two beers) The bolt size is metric. Last guy said 12mm, I think its right but take a metric socket set. Some post say the Ford tubular boards rust easy.
