Tow hook install question

Hi,

I'm going to install factory tow hooks on my 05 F150 2x4 and was wondering if anyone else has done this. I was looking under the truck and I know it has the holes for the bolts but will I have to remove the front bumper to install them? or can I tap the holes?
Any help would be great.Thanks.

all you need to remove is the plastic valance thingy

there are 2 holes on the bottom of each frame horn. the tow hooks use a nut backing bar that you have to slip into there using a side access hole, then you line up the holes with a screwdriver and hopefully get the rear bolt started

after the rear bolt is started, slip the tow hook onto it, and try and thread the front bolt...if you're lucky, it all works and you can tighten it up

then trim your valance to fit with the tow hooks, or buy the 4x4 one

just be patient. getting the bolts into that bar can be a major PITA

Tasca ford has a page on thier site for adding 4x4 tow hooks to a 2wd and has all the parts needed.

Once you have all the parts, first thing to do is remove 2wd valance. Then it will be a lot easier to install the bolts and nuts for the hooks. Install the 4x4 valance, and hang your hooks.
