Remote start + Cold weather = problem
Remote start + Cold weather = problem
Alright, if anyone can chime in here and see if they have the sort of problem im having. I dont know if its to do with the remote start (which i doubt) - its a viper 2 way by the way - or the truck itself. For the past 2 years, when my truck has been sitting for a while (a while meaning more than 24 hours) without running, I have a hard time remote starting it on colder days. It will act like it wants to turn over, but it's the equivalent of turning the key, almost to ignition, and turning it right back to off (if you can get what I mean).
I can sometimes start it with a second try, but most of the time I have to put the key in the ignition, which defeats the purpose on cold days. I dont know if its the truck having a hard time starting on colder days and the key must be held in the "start" position for a second longer, which I cannot do with the remote start. Anyone experience this issue, solutions?
Thanks

What are you using for your tach source?
I had another unit in my truck before I put my ultra in and it was doing all kinds of weird stuff while I was on a ignition coil, moved it to a fuel injector and it solved that problem
but I bet the PATS system.
There are sverals ways to bypass it, buried key, wire loop around the ignition, or hard wired (which I have).
If you one of the first two there have been many people that have had problems with cold weather/sitting long periods and not starting.
I would check that first.

Are you sure it has a full charge? Not sure what else it could be. I suffered from the exact same symptoms you did until I replaced my battery. Anyway, hope you get it figured out!

Besides the remote start what else did you have installed as far as electronics go?
If you refering to all the stuff thats hooked up to my battery though, thats a different story
2 amps
interface control module
600W power invertor
Alarm/Remote start
2 HID kit relays
maybe some other things lol, ill have to double check
I had a large sound system installed along with a backup camera, satellite radio, etc... Like I said, when the weather started to dip, I would get a crank and maybe a clicking sound, but that's about it. I went through 2 OEM batteries before I went with a Interstate Megatron. No problems since.
Hope you get yours figured out.

So the unit is cranking but not turning over all the way?
I read your first post as it was not even cranking..
To answer your question, yes, it is done through the program list on the unit.
