Yay tv!!!
Yay tv!!!
Well I got bored and rigged up a plan to install TV in my truck. It started out because on my HU it has a button labled "TV" but it doesnt work. Did some research and pioneer discontinued it. Well after a few hours of thinking away, a great idea popped into my noggin. I placed an order for TV converter box coupons and waited a few weeks. They finally arrived and went to wallyworld and purchased a digital tv converter for 10 bucks along with an amplified RCA flat digital tv antenna. The antenna is perfect size to fit underneath the little black tray on the dash of the truck. Then I mounted the converter box in between my passenger seat and center console (the remote has to be able to see it). For now I wired up a small inverter behind my dash until I can get my big one mounted and installed.
The reception is mediocre. I can pick up stations while stationary no problem. But when moving it gets sketchy (safer I guess). The tv stations are supposed to up there output wattage for digital signal to 1million watts I believe very soon so this should up my coverage dramatically. Its pretty cool and well worth it IMHO. I was able to watch the national championship while I was at play practice.
In the end it cost me:
$10-Converter
$25-Antenna
$0-Inverter (already had it)
$3-Switch to kill inverter
$3-Wire, connections, ect.
Ill get pics up later on tonight.
