Broken already

Hi Guys hope you give me a little experience here.

Took my new truck to see my Uncle and on the way back the ABS light came on and then the truck went into limp home mode. Now its dark here now and startin to snow so i cant get a look at the moment. The book i have says see dealer. Trouble is UK dealers wont have a clue.

I know its going to be an ABS sensor problem be it fallen off or whatever just wondered if there was a common problem, a little worried the limp home kicked in too.

I did a test on the message centre on the dash an all was ok.

Sorry only had her 3 days so a little worried.

Cheers

Do you have dual exhaust? I had that problem, because my dual exhaust was ran too close to the abs wires, and was melting them, had to be rewired. Not covered under warranty

Since its snowing and you got some time I say disconnect battery, reset cpu, and see if it throws it again. then go from there

Cheers its late here too, that will be first try in the morning. Then im gonna try and clean the sensors.

After doin some diggin around on the t'interweb it would seem the rear speed sensors are a common problem.

cheers for all your help

Yes, the rear sensor usually causes the ABS light to come on, but this does NOT cause the truck to go into limp home mode. I had the ABS rear sensor issue on my 05 and drove it that way for a month, no limp home mode. Therefore you must have another issue as well.

right i'm guessing it could be an abs fuse then. I just hope if it is its because its got damp not because the abs comp has died of death!!!

if the engine management sees nothing from the abs comp that may throw up limp home.

Pretty sure it says in the manual that limp home mode is only for engine/tranny issues, it won't go into limp home mode because of ABS issues.

50% of the time when it rains my abs lights come on....may have something to do with my rear tires moving much faster then the fronts though.....

on my friends 03, his abs light was always on and never in "limp" mode. so unless they changed the 04-08's drastically i doubt thats it, but its worth a shot
