Question about aal install

Wow so I haven't posted on here in quite a while. As some of you might remember I had some problems with my suspension making awful noises. Well after 3 sets of leaf springs and lots of arguing the tech narrowed it down to the shackles. Apparently the bushing or something was wrong. Well the first time the replaced my springs the took my aal out and they kept the bolts. I want to put the aal back since the noise is gone now. My question is what kind of bolts do I need to get. I don't think I have to order them from 4wp or skyjacker do I? Can I just go to home depot?

First time

Is there a spring shop local? If so they can help you get some.

Good to hear you got the creaking and popping issue resolved.

Dude, I just put my AAl on Thurs night. I tell you the bolts that came with my kit were a piece. Id try to find some Grade 8 carriage bolts. I think my kit had 3/8 bolt. Dont forget grade 8 nuts. The ones from my kits were fine thread and they were long enough to fit through all and tighten don to bring the leafs togather. You can grind down the head on the bolts if you want and can also cut off extra length.

Carriage bolts will not work, you need the round pin head of the bolt to fit directly into axle perch to locate the axle.

Carriage bolt

Add a leaf with pins.

Why will a regular hex head bolt not work? I mean if it doesnt fit the hole for the block, you can always grind it down. Then you can use a Higher grade bolt.

The pins he had were grade 8. I sold him the AAL. Besides heating up the head with a grinder makes the bolt weaker, affects the hardness.
